HOW TO START YOUR PROJECT
Start with the project details, not a random file dump. Tell us what you are releasing, what service you need, what formats are involved, and whether you need Mixing, Heavy Mastering, Beyond Heavy, Vinyl Mastering, or a combination of services.
You do not need every detail finalized before contacting us. We’ll confirm the right path, price range, file readiness, format needs, upload steps, and scheduling before the project begins.
1. SEND THE PROJECT DETAILS
Submit the project intake first. Include the band name, release title, song count, approximate running time, service needed, planned formats, mix status, release timeline, and any notes that affect the project.
If you are not sure whether you need Mixing, Heavy Mastering, Beyond Heavy, Vinyl Mastering, or a full release package, that is fine. We’ll help confirm the right path before scheduling.
2. WE CONFIRM THE RIGHT PATH
After reviewing the project details, we’ll confirm what makes the most sense.
Some projects only need Heavy Mastering. Some need Mixing first. Some need vinyl-specific masters, streaming masters, CD/DDP, cassette, Bandcamp, digital download, or MP3 convenience copies. Release-ready projects that need the flagship treatment may be considered for Beyond Heavy, the Jack Control + Maor Appelbaum collaboration.
The goal is to avoid over-ordering, under-preparing, or sending the wrong files into production.
3. CHECK FILE READINESS
If your final mixes are ready, we’ll tell you what to upload and where to send them. If you are unsure, use the Mix Prep page before uploading.
Final mixes should be clean WAV or AIFF files exported from the mix session, clearly labeled, not damaged by lossy conversion, accidental clipping, unnecessary limiting, or mystery version confusion.
For vinyl projects, include intended side splits, RPM, track order, and any timing concerns if those details are known.
4. UPLOAD FILES WHEN REQUESTED
Once the project path is clear, upload the appropriate files through the Enormous Door upload link.
Do not worry if you are not ready to upload immediately. It is better to send the project details first and confirm the right path than to rush files into the wrong process.
5. INVOICE AND SCHEDULING
After the service, format needs, and project scope are confirmed, we’ll send the invoice.
Scheduling is handled after payment is complete. Projects are scheduled in the order they are confirmed and paid.
6. SAMPLE, REVIEW, AND REVISIONS
For mastering projects, we’ll prepare the work and send a mastered sample for approval.
Listen carefully before approving. If adjustments are needed, say so clearly. Reasonable revisions are part of the process, and the goal is to make sure the final master matches the record’s intent before delivery.
If the mix itself needs to change, we’ll let you know when a mix revision is the better move.
7. FINAL MASTER DELIVERY
After approval, final masters are delivered for the paid formats.
Depending on the project, this may include vinyl-ready WAV files, streaming and digital WAV files, CD/DDP files, cassette masters, Bandcamp or download masters, and MP3 convenience copies.
Before sending files to a label, distributor, pressing plant, CD manufacturer, cassette duplication house, or video team, review the masters carefully. Confirm track order, spelling, fades, starts, endings, gaps, metadata notes, side splits, and format requirements.
8. HOW TO CREDIT ENORMOUS DOOR
For Enormous Door mastering, use:
“Mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door Mastering”
For Beyond Heavy, use:
“Mastered by Jack Control and Maor Appelbaum”
Please include the credit on released formats, Bandcamp, streaming metadata where possible, YouTube descriptions, social posts, label copy, and promotional materials. It helps people trace the work and supports the studio.
